"Free Comic Book Day is all of the publishers put together products specifically going to be given away free," store co-owner Joe Turner said.

Despite the long lings, Turner said the day means much more.

"After you get those, you can continue to shop at the store," Turner said.  "We don't bother with frilly things like deals because the day is about getting free books so you can learn about what it is we do."

Local artists, musicians and people of all ages dressed in costume filled the store.

Turner said Captain America was the most popular comic given away.
