Hillary Clinton Tours Philly Ahead Of PA Primary

by Kristen Johanson

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Presidential candidates are using their time ahead of the Pennsylvania primary to gain support from voters across the state, in hopes of getting their name on November's ballot. Democratic hopeful Hillary Clinton made a few surprise visits to churches in our area, trying to convince constituents to be on her side.

Hillary Clinton's first stop was Triumph Baptist Church in North Philadelphia. Joined by Governor Wolf and local political figures, the democratic candidate addressed the crowd about gun violence, education and mental health.

"There is still too much of a stigma around mental health. If you've got diabetes, nobody holds it against you if you go to the doctor. If you've got depression, people look at you funny, don't they," she said.

She also shared her reaction to Harriet Tubman's recent addition to the $20 bill, "Leading slaves to freedom, and saying, don't look back and don't stop. Keep going, and that to me represented so much about her, but also about our country."

Then it was off to African Episcopal Church of St. Thomas in Overbrook, where she spoke about issues facing Philadelphians.

During both visits, Clinton urged people to get out to the polls this week and vote. Though, some said they still weren't sure who they were going to choose on Tuesday.
