Report: Sam Bradford 'Likely' To Ask For Trade

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Hey, if my company brought in somebody to take my job, I'd be ticked off too.

Earlier this week the Eagles pulled off a mammoth draft trade with the Cleveland Browns, giving Philly the No. 2 overall pick in Thursday's draft. The Eagles will undoubtedly take a quarterback with the top pick, either Jared Goff or Carson Wentz.

The current Eagles' starting QB Sam Bradford, who was given a new contract this offseason (two years, $35 million with $22 million guaranteed per overthecap.com), is "likely" to ask for a trade according to Jason Cole of BleacherReport.com.

"I've talked to a source that has said it's likely Bradford is going to ask for a trade at some point in time or some way to get out of Philadelphia so that he can move on with his career somewhere else with a team that's going to be invested in him long-term," Cole said via BleedingGreenNation.com. "That's the kind of solution that Bradford is looking at in this point in time."

On Wednesday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Bradford is "mad" about the Eagles-Browns trade.

Both of these reports come after the Eagles' vice president of personnel Howie Roseman, speaking to the media about the trade, emphatically stated that Bradford is still the starting QB.

"Let me be clear, Sam Bradford is out starting quarterback," Roseman said at the beginning of his presser on Wednesday. "We've told Sam that. We intend to support him and the moves we made this offseason will give us a chance to compete this season."

With Bradford, Goff or Wentz, and Chase Daniel -- who signed a three-year, $21 million ($12 million guaranteed) contract with the Eagles this offseason -- the Eagles will have close to $60 million guaranteed tied into three quarterbacks heading into 2016.

Multiple NFL teams are still searching for starting quarterbacks. The reigning Super Bowl champion Denver Broncos currently have Mark Sanchez as their No. 1. The New York Jets have not yet re-signed last year's starter Ryan Fitzpatrick. And Chip Kelly's San Francisco 49ers have a disgruntled Colin Kaepernick.

Maybe it won't happen this year, but a trade -- at least at some point -- seems practical.
