Locals Celebrate Earth Day At National Constitution Center

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Today is Earth Day and events are taking place around the globe including here in Philadelphia. At the National Constitution Center on Independence Mall, kids were learning about good citizenship, environmental stewardship and having fun too on this earth day.

Brian Krisch is a spokesman for the National Constitution Center.

"We are the museum of 'we the people' and one of the greatest way that 'we the people' can be active is to take care of our nation and to take care of our planet," Krisch said. "Each of us individually can do our part to help to preserve our nation in its current for our posterity."

Many students like Malika from Brooklyn say we all need to do our part to keep the earth clean and that includes recycling.

"You have to recycle and take care of your earth because you live on it, and you want to make it a better place for other people," she said.

The National Constitution Center offered free admission to students to mark the special day.
