Report: Sam Bradford Is 'Mad' Eagles Traded For Second Overall Pick

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Eagles didn't trade up to take an offensive lineman. Even though Sam Bradford would probably prefer that happen, even he knows the Eagles moved up to the second overall pick with the quarterback position in mind.
That means Bradford will essentially transition from franchise quarterback to mentor for either Carson Wentz or Jared Goff.

According to Adam Schefter, Bradford is not too happy with the team's decision to not hitch their wagon to him long-term.
"It's only natural, but those who have spoken to Sam Bradford say he is not happy with today's trade," Schefter reported via his Facebook page. Schefter wrote: "He's hot," said one source. "Who wouldn't be? This is Philly saying, 'We don't see (you) as long-term answer.' He's mad and wants to show everyone who's best.''
Bradford is staring at a situation where he is going to be asked to essentially keep the seat warm for the player that will ultimately take over for him. At 28, Bradford more than likely doesn't want to be in a position where he is a stop-gap option for an eventually replacement.
When the Eagles signed Chase Daniel, it was presumed that he was the insurance for Bradford in case he got injured, but now he could be the stop-gap if Bradford decides he doesn't want to be a part of a grooming strategy for another quarterback.
Can you blame him?
When the Eagles signed Bradford to a new-deal, he raved about the opportunity to play under a former quarterback in Doug Pederson, but it's safe to say he didn't have it in mind that even with his presence, the team would mortgage the immediate future by trading away draft picks to take a player that will eventually boot Bradford out of town.
For now, it appears Bradford is "the guy," but the chance for success in drafting a quarterback at No. 2 is enhanced if the starter in town is engaged and ready to mentor.
It sounds like Bradford may not have that on his list of priorities now. It sounds like he's out to prove his bosses wrong.
