Flyers' Scott Laughton Taken Off On Stretcher After Hit In Game 4

PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) — Philadelphia Flyers center Scott Laughton was taken off the ice on a stretcher after a scary hit into the boards Wednesday in Game 4 of the team's first-round playoff series against the Washington Capitals.

Washington defenseman John Carlson tangled with Laughton behind the Capitals' net. Laughton stumbled and his head slammed into the back boards.

He went down in a heap face-first and was immobile for several minutes. The Flyers eventually brought out the stretcher and wheeled him off the ice late in the first period.

Laughton was talking to medical personal as they strapped him on the board.

The team tweeted that Laughton was taken to Jefferson Hospital for precautionary reasons, but did not provide an immediate update on his condition.

Laughton had seven goals and 14 assists in 71 regular-season games this season.
