KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa., (CBS) — Cherie Amoore is the woman charged with taking a 7-week-old baby from his family at the King of Prussia Mall on Thursday afternoon.

After hours of searching and an issued Amber Alert, the baby was located safely and Amoore was taken into custody.

Amoore’s mother is a prominent Republican and businesswoman in Pennsylvania. Renee Amoore is the Deputy Chairman of the Republican Party of Pennsylvania.

Renee Amoore appeared on Eyewitness News when CBS 3 hosted local voters during a GOP Presidential Debate earlier this year.

The Amoore family released the following statement on Friday evening in regards to the incident:

“The Amoore family appreciates all who have reached out with prayers and all the positive messages in this difficult time! Our focus is on our daughters health and wellness. We would ask that you would respect our privacy and we have no further comments at this time.”
