Investigation Continues Into 4 Deaths At Delaware Apartments

WILMINGTON, Del. (CBS/AP) — An investigation is continuing into the deaths of four people at an apartment complex in Wilmington.

The four were discovered Friday in apartments identified by police as the Hidden Valley Apartment Complex. A management company said the complex is called Evergreen at Riverfront Heights.

New Castle County police said three children and five adults also were hospitalized, but as of Saturday, all but one of those eight had been released. The remaining patient's status is considered stable and non-life threatening.

A police spokesman, Cpl. Tom Jackson, said investigators believe the deaths were caused by an unspecified environmental issue. He said Saturday emergency responders detected levels of carbon monoxide but that has not been confirmed yet as the cause of the deaths.

The victims have been identified as 60-year-old Carl Dunfee, 58-year-old Veronica Mousely, 72-year-old Andrew Spanakos and 56-year-old Nancy Uniacke, whose body was discovered in a different apartment than the other three.

Two buildings at the complex were evacuated Friday night and ordered closed during the investigation. The Red Cross was called into to assist displaced residents.
