Positively Philadelphia: What Travel Writers Have To Say About The Philadelphia Area

By Lauren Lipton

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's always fascinating to hear what visitors to this area think, and particularly travel writers who visit cities all over the world. I talked to Michela Rosano of Ottawa, Canada, who writes for Canadian Geographic.

"I love the Reading Terminal Market. I could live there. I wanted to try everything and of course, you only have so much stomach space."

Freelance travel and food writer Angela Matano is from Santa Monica.

"It's just a terrific city to visit. It's a really great size, feels like almost everything is walking distance, and if you're from L.A., that's a really big bonus."

"The Barnes Foundation was amazing. That art collection is incredible," said Rosano.

And the history is beyond impressive.

"I was thinking, in the George Washington house where he was in Valley Forge, that maybe there's still fingerprints on a door that could still be his, or maybe like, a stray hair fell behind a piece of wood and it's still there. I mean, you feel him," said Matano.

"We ran up the Rocky steps that was really fun."

"I didn't run up, but it was sort of like a brisk shuffle up the steps, but it was great. It was fun," said Rosano.

"It's only an hour flight from Ottawa. I'm gonna recommend people come, for sure."
