PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Police sources say a person is now in custody after a man was stabbed to death overnight in Rittenhouse Square.READ MORE: 50 Houses Without Water After Main Break In North Philadelphia
It happened just before 3:30 a.m. Sunday outside of a luxury high-rise hotel in the 1800 block of Rittenhouse Square in Center City.
Police say a 24-year-old man was out for a night on the town with a friend when he got into an argument with a suspect who slashed the victim in the chest and then ran away.

The police sources say the person in custody is a homeless veteran who didn’t know the victim.
Investigators collected the victim’s shoes, a necklace and a coat they say a good Samaritan used to help the victim.
Authorities were questioning several witnesses and say an image of the suspect was captured on surveillance video.

Police have not yet released a motive either.
