Report: Eagles To Trade Maxwell, Alonso To Dolphins

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Eagles are reportedly close to finalizing a trade that would send corner Byron Maxwell and linebacker Kiko Alonso to the Dolphins, first reported by Adam Schefter.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport says it's a done deal.

94WIP's Howard Eskin confirms the report.

Maxwell, 28, has a $9.7 million cap hit in 2016 with $13.3 million in dead money, if cut, according to Spotrac.com. However, the Dolphins — or any team that acquires him via trade — could save significant money if they chose to release Maxwell after the 2016 season.

Alonso, 25, has a 2016 cap hit of just $991,418 and is scheduled to become an unrestricted free-agent after the season.

Both Maxwell and Alonso were signed and acquired, respectively, by Chip Kelly last offseason. Now, with Kelly in San Francisco, Howie Roseman is back making personnel decisions and seemingly trying to get rid of "Kelly's players."
