Tony Danza Reads To Philadelphia Students On Read Across America Day

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It was Read Across America Day and kids heard Dr. Seuss tales of all sorts. Especially at one Philadelphia elementary school.

They gathered in the library of Fox Chase Elementary. To their guests, the kindergartners and first-graders were quite complimentary.

It was the birthday of one Dr. Seuss. But who were the two men reading to them, they had to deduce?

One guy's suit was a spiffy color black. He was none other than Lieutenant Governor Mike Stack. And it became evident with each passing stanza, the other before them was actor Tony Danza.

"How could any bat forget, in all the countless years we've met," Stanza read.

After, Danza said he welcomed the kids' praise...

"I just think it's so much tougher to be a kid nowadays. And so anything you can do to change that, to make it better, I think is worthwhile."

And on this particular Seuss Day, that left them with a smile.
