Phila. Police Make Arrest In Connection To Stabbing Death Of Transgender Woman

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- On Tuesday, Philadelphia Police announced an arrest in connection to the death of a transgender woman, Maya Young. Authorities arrested a 24-year-old woman for murder and conspiracy.

On Saturday at 11:50 p.m., police responded to a reported stabbing at 4900 Griscom Street. The victim was located on the 4800 block of Penn Street laying on the ground. Authorities say she suffered from multiple stab wounds to the neck and chest.

Young, 25, was transported to Frankford Aria Hospital and was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.

Authorities are not releasing the name of the person in custody at this time and add that it will likely not be the last arrest in connection to the stabbing.
