Who Killed Salma Hayek's Dog?

By Amanda Jackson

PHILADELPHIA (CNN) -- Mystery swirls around the death of actress Salma Hayek's dog, Mozart. He was found shot to death at her Washington state ranch last week.

The Mexican-American actress took to Instagram on Friday to memorialize her dog of nine years and plead for justice in his death.

"I haven't posted for a week as I been mourning the death of my dog, Mozart, who I personally delivered out of his mother's womb," she posted. "He was found dead in my ranch last Friday with a shot close to his heart."

"He loved his territory and never strayed away... he was the most loving and loyal companion. He didn't deserve a slow and painful death."

Hayek is passionate about animals and her ranch serves as a mini animal sanctuary. The 49-year-old star has several rescue dogs, a guinea pig, chickens and alpacas, just to name a few of the animals that call her ranch home.

Washington state police had not responded to CNN's request for comment Saturday afternoon.
