Police: Tires Slashed On 18 Vehicles In Delaware

NEW CASTLE, DE (CBS) – Police are investigating after they say 18 vehicles were vandalized overnight.

Authorities say it happened around 1:35 a.m. Friday in the area of West 11th Street and Juniper Street.

Police say they were called to the area after a resident observed and tried to stop three white teens allegedly attempt to puncture a tire on a New Castle County Police car.

A New Castle City and a New Castle County K-9 attempted to track them, but were unsuccessful.

"A New Castle County K9 assisted and tried to track the whereabouts of these three suspects, unsuccessfully, unfortunately," said New Castle Police Lt. Adam Brams.

"It's a shame. It makes me angry," said a neighbor.

"The damage is probably four to five thousand dollars," said Lt. Brams.

"It's ridiculous. These people have to go to work first thing in the morning, they come out and their tires are slashed," said a neighbor.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 302-322-9800.
