PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Philadelphia Police say a woman who left her daughter behind in a Center City department store after she got away from store detectives, who busted her for shoplifting, has been found.

Police say 27-year-old Mahogany Terry of Strawberry Mansion was picked up Monday night in the 2400 block of North 29th Street without incident.

Investigators say Terry left her four-year-old daughter behind inside the Macy’s in Center City after store detectives detained her on Feb. 11 for shoplifting about $1,400 worth of merchandise.

They say Terry managed to slip out of a handcuff attached to a bench and ran out of the store, leaving her daughter behind.

Child welfare authorities turned the little girl over to family members. Police issued a warrant for Terry.

She is charged with endangering the welfare of a child and retail theft.
