Police Hunt For Three Men Involved In Multi-State Theft Ring

UPPER GWYNEDD TOWNSHIP, P.A., (CBS) -- Police in several states are on the hunt for three men involved in an organized retail theft ring. Police say the group originated in the Washington DC, Maryland area and surveillance video shows their crime spree entering Upper Gwynedd Twp. Montgomery County on January 19th.

"They're targeting high end electronics - small high end electronics - from cell phone stores and the like," said Sgt. Steve Gillen.

Surveillance video from the AT&T store in the 1500 block of Valley Forge road shows all three suspects entering the store separately. Eventually one of the men makes his way by a store full of customers into a storage room where he grabs iPhones and iPads.

"At our store they took six cell phones and two iPads," Gillen said.

"I guess it can happen anywhere. It must have been a random thing. I don't think this is a high crime area. Like I said, I'm surprised to hear that that happened in this area." said Sherry Dehaven.

Little did Upper Gwynedd Police know, but 45 minutes earlier, the men had already hit a Sprint store inside Plymouth Meeting Mall. There they swiped a phone from the display.

Police have identified 22-year-old Delonte Davis of Bowie, Maryland as one of the suspects. Police believe they've been targeting stores all along the East Coast from North Carolina to New Jersey.

"We put information out to all of the stores in our area and we are fairly certain the stores, within their chains, in the respective businesses share the information among themselves," Gillen said.

Police urge anyone with information about the robberies to contact them.
