School Counselor, Fired For Online Threat, To Be Reinstated

DOYLESTOWN, P.A., (CBS) -- A guidance counselor who was fired from Central Bucks West High School after a Facebook post last year, is being reinstated.

Marykate Blankenburg was fired last January, one month after she wrote on a social media site, "If my child cannot get to the Eagles game due to protestors, I will personally SHOOT every one of them. You've been warned, idiots!!"

The post was in reference to what protesters call a "die-in" near the Eagles' stadium as part of the "Black Lives Matter" movement.

Central Bucks School Board President Beth Darcy says Blankenburg's reinstatement is part of a settlement agreement, a resolution of a contract dispute. Blankenburg had filed a grievance when she was fired.

Darcy says Blackenburg will not be given compensation for the one-year she was gone, which is now called a suspension. She'll be assigned to a school by administration when she returns February 16th.
