FOP President John McNesby Discusses Assault Investigation Allegedly Involving LeSean McCoy

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia's Fraternal Order of Police President John McNesby joined Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show on Wednesday to discuss the assault investigation on multiple off-duty police officers allegedly involving ex-Eagles running back LeSean McCoy.

McNesby called the attack -- which took place at Recess nightclub in Olde City on Sunday morning at 2:45 a.m. -- was "unprovoked" and "vicious."

"From all accounts that I'm getting Angelo, that those officers were in there, they were minding their own business," McNesby said on Wednesday. "They were out for an evening with themselves, just some camaraderie, and they were viciously attacked unprovoked. We're waiting for the end of the investigation and hopefully it points to chargers for all four of those individuals that were involved in that."

"This just wasn't a pushing and shoving match or a playground brawl, this was an all out beat down," McNesby continued. "And the officers were severely injured. I'm not talking about scratches and contusions. I'm talking about broken bones, eye sockets, fractured skulls, and it's really -- it's a long road to recovery for them and hopefully they'll be able to return to work."

The three off-duty officers involved were Darnell Jessie, Roland Butler, and Sergeant Daniel Ayers. McNesby says McCoy and the other three individuals allegedly involved in the assault should have known they were police officers.

"The bottom line is once you take action, you're on duty and you're acting as a police officer," said McNesby. "Those guys probably should have known that -- meaning McCoy and his clan -- but I don't know whether or not that was actually relayed to them or not."

Former NFL running back and Philly native Curtis Brinkley, as well as former University of Pittsburgh wide receiver Tamarcus Porter, are reportedly being investigated with McCoy and a fourth individual -- Christopher Henderson.

McNesby says, and in fact hopes, an arrest is imminent for all four men.

"With the severity of the injuries, I would say absolutely," McNesby said when asked if there will be an arrest made. "As I said, they weren't scratches, they weren't cuts, they weren't contusions. These were actual broken bones in serious areas of the body. For anyone to act like that unprovoked -- the investigation will lead to where it leads -- but I would think that all four of those players, ex-players will be arrested.

"Hopefully in the next day or two you'll see them guys scooped up and put in handcuffs."
