UPDATE: Trash Collection In Philadelphia Not Being Suspended

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The City of Philadelphia has reversed course and now says regular trash and recycling collection will take place today.

Residents who normally have trash picked up on Tuesday can place it outside for the Department of Sanitation to collect.

Initially, the city announced collection of trash and recyclables would be suspended to help with snow removal.

A winter storm is forecast to bring 1-3" of snow across parts of the city. But with the heaviest of the snow not expected until later in the day on Tuesday, officials decided to resume collection as scheduled.

Any resident who missed the pickup Tuesday may leave their trash and recycling at their normal location for collection on Wednesday.
