PA Politicians Use Dive Bars To Reach Out To Voters
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Some Pennsylvania politicians are taking a non traditional campaigning route in an effort to spread their message to voters.
Tattooed Mom on South Street is a place where one might go for an after work cocktail or late night libations. But for the last few years, the progressive political group Philly for Change has held their monthly meetings there.
At a campaign event Wednesday evening, U.S. Senate democratic candidate John Fetterman stopped by Tattooed Mom to mingle with voters.
"You don't want to do it in hotel ballrooms and have chicken medallions and asparagus tips," he says. "You go after the voters other candidates don't see or don't care to see."
Josh Shapiro is running for state Attorney General and also stopped through to talk to constituents:
"You're not behind a podium, you're not far away from people," he says. "You get to talk to people directly. You get to shake their hands. You get to hear what's on their mind. It makes me a better candidate and ultimately it will make me a better Attorney General. A better fighter for Pennsylvania."
