Philly 'Uber Of Beer' Service Weathers The Storm, Adds To Inventory

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A business that delivers bottled beer to homes and businesses just passed a big test with last weekend's blizzard.

Barely a year into his Quick Sip delivery service, Chris Fetfatzes says his crew managed to make all their six-pack dropoffs last weekend, much to the surprise and delight of many snowbound customers:

"Shock was definitely greeted with them at the door. Big smiles, a lot of high fives, some hugs."

The storm moved out just two days ahead of Quick Sip's expansion to growler service out of Fetfatzes' Hawthorne Cafe.

"Essentially we want to bring the bottle shop to our guest's doors and make it simple and easy and the evolution of the on-demand society naturally prompted beer," he says. "If you can get a pizza delivered, why not a growler delivered as well?"

He calls the service the "Uber of beer:"

"From the time they hit submit, they'll receive their order in 15 minutes."

Thats for a nearby customer. Fetzfatzes says the overall average delivery time is 22 minutes.

He's also expanding his service north to Fishtown, Northern Liberties and over to West Philadelphia.

Customers are charged a delivery fee of $1.95 after ordering online at www.quicksipdelivery.com.
