Area Ski Slopes Dealing With Tricky Winter

SCHWENKSVILLE, Pa. (CBS) - First, an unseasonably warm December. Then upwards of 30-inches of snow.

"It's not ideal but we'll take it," Spring Mountain Ski Area owner Rick Buckman.

He says in a perfect world, the timing of the storm, and the amount of snow would have been different:

"30-inches of snow is a lot of work no matter what business you are in, just clearing parking lots and sidewalks and getting open. I would have liked it a little earlier in the week so we didn't lose Saturday."

But he says with schools closed on Monday, it was so busy it felt like a weekend. And he says they have high hopes for this weekend:

"They'll still have snow in their yards so they're still thinking about snow and hopefully skiing and it's going to be about 40-degrees which is ideal to a lot of people."

He says it will be tough to make up for the warm December, but he says Easter is early this year, so they're crossing their fingers to make it to the end of March.
