Authorities: 17-Year-Old Girl Charged In Shooting Death Of Boy, 13, In Camden

CAMDEN, N.J, (CBS) -- Prosecutors are charging a 17-year-old girl with murder in connection with the city of Camden's first homicide of the year -- that of a 13-year-old boy. The girl is also being charged for her alleged part in a 2015 shooting, according to authorities.

The 17-year-old girl is charged with first degree murder in the death of 13-year-old Nathaniel Plummer, Jr. Authorities say ballistic evidence linked the girl to Plummer, who was found shot near Beacon and Line Streets in Camden on Jan. 7. Plummer's mother, Taisha Mercado, posted on her Facebook page, "Justice has been served." She spoke about her son Nate earlier this month who she says in weeks before his death was linked to a gang.

"He laughed and joked and that's kid that he was, he was that 13-year-old kid."

Camden County Prosecutors are also charging the 17-year-old girl with attempted murder, aggravated assault and other crimes in connection with an Oct. 30 shooting that injured a 19-year-old.
