Officer Hartnett Released From Hospital Weeks After Shooting

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia police officer Jesse Hartnett has been released from the hospital after being shot multiple times in West Philadelphia just over two weeks ago.

Officer Jesse Hartnett, was sitting in his patrol car  at 60th and Spruce Streets when a gunman fired nearly a dozen shots through the driver's side of the car.

The shooting suspect, Edward Archer, allegedly confessed to shooting Officer Hartnett quote "in the name of Islam."

Police previously called the shooting an "attempted assassination."

Officer Hartnett is an 18th district officer with four years on the force.
