Local Exhibit Highlights History Of Drawing In America

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - A new exhibit at the La Salle University Art Museum highlights drawing done on paper -- some of which have been preserved for more than 100 years ago.

This art installation features more than 20 drawings from the 18th to the 20th century.

"This exhibition is about works on paper that are originals, so it's American originals but it's also about the practice of drawing and why artists drew," says Catherine Holochwost with La Salle University.

She helped curate the displays.

"They'll see some local artists like violet oakley who lived in Germantown. They'll see the first woman artists from America henriatta johnson. They'll see a lot of cool stuff."

The exhibit runs through the end of February. Entrance to the exhibit and the museum is free.
