Eagles To Search For New Player Personnel Head This Week

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Eagles personnel department is sort of, in disarray.

After going from Howie Roseman to Chip Kelly and now back to Roseman and Tom Donahoe, owner Jeffrey Lurie was asked about his confidence in Roseman during Tuesday's press conference introducing new head coach Doug Pederson.

Lurie halted his response after revealing the Eagles will begin looking to add a "player personnel head."

"We're about to do a search for a player personnel head and that will really be an important search that we're all participating in, starting this week," Lurie said. "And given that search and given the competitive nature of that search, what I'd like to do is really talk to you more about structure and that exact nature of those once the search is over because I don't want to sort of telegraph anything we're doing."

Upon firing Kelly, Lurie named Roseman as executive vice president in charge of football operations and said Donahoe will run the day-to-day player personnel department on December 30th. Ultimately, Lurie says, it will be a collective process with an emphasis on accountability.

"No matter what structure and ability to have a great personnel head and player personnel department, accountability will be the number one feature and that goes for everybody," Lurie said on Tuesday. "It goes for Howie, it goes for the player personnel head, goes for the head coach. My number one priority going into this offseason is accountability.

"Trust me, as soon as we finish this search accountability will be 100-percent acknowledged."
