One Of Philly's Largest Breweries Seeks New Home

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Business is booming at Yards Brewery. So much so that it has to move to a larger facility.

It's been only nine years since Yards moved into its 40,000 square foot plant along Delaware Avenue in Northern Liberties. But President Tom Kehoe says they've already outgrown the place:

"Before we came here we did 7,500 barrels and now we're doing 42,000 barrels per year. And went from 12 employees all the way to now about 67 employees."

The problem is expansion appears unlikely. So Yards is searching for a new facility -- double the current size -- to accommodate a capacity of 120,000 barrels.

"We want to be as close to Center City as possible," Kehoe says. "We want to still be in a neighborhood 'cause we feel as though we have a lot of connection to our neighbors and to the community that we're in. And it's important that we're able to get a little bit of tourism from Center City."

Kehoe says city and state commerce officials have committed to helping Yards find a new home before their current lease expires in about two years.
