Man Accused Of Shooting Father On Schuylkill Expressway Committed For Mental Health Evaluation
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The 22-year-old man who is charged with shooting his father on the Schuylkill Expressway last year during rush-hour is being committed to a mental health facility, as he's been ruled "currently incompetent to stand trial"
Kymere Corbin is currently being held in the Montgomery County prison, but a judge has ordered him committed to Norristown State Hospital for treatment for a period not to exceed 90-days. Corbin's attorney Benjamin Cooper says, after the 90-days, there will be a review to decide if he can proceed or of he needs more treatment.
But, Cooper says, it's still a gray area if he were to be rendered competent:
"Because sometimes when you're treated and you're taking these meds, these meds make you you're not real able to deal with what your case is."
Corbin is facing attempted murder and other serious charges for shooting his father from the backseat, while his father was driving west on the Schuylkill Expressway near Conshohocken around 6 p.m. on April 7th. The father survived the shooting. Corbin's parents were driving him to a drug and mental health facility in Malvern.
