PATCO Forced To Suspend Service Leaving Cold Riders Very Upset
HADDONFIELD, N.J. (CBS) -- PATCO service between the Haddonfield and Woodcrest stations is back up and running on or close to normal schedule, officials say.
Service was suspended for about two hours while crews removed a large tree in danger of falling across the tracks.
Commuters crowded the Haddonfield station and New Jersey Transit buses shuttled people between the two stations.
PATCO officials released a statement about the incident, saying:
"We are sorry for any inconvenience that this emergency shutdown caused for our customers. As always, our primary concern was for the safety of our riding community and our actions were driven by that priority. We reached out to our partners at NJT and coordinated alternative transportation as quickly as possible.
We thank our customers for their patience and are pleased that we were able to return to normal operation this evening. Once service resumed, we immediately dispatched additional trains to quickly and safely deliver our customers to their destinations."
