Blustery Winds Cause Wires, Trees To Come Down

HORSHAM, Pa. (CBS) -- The bitter blast of winter weather brought heavy winds overnight that toppled trees and snapped telephone poles across the Philadelphia region.

Crews were working to fix downed wires at West County Line Road and Henry Avenue in Horsham, Montgomery County Wednesday morning where two poles were damaged, one was bent by the wind and another snapped completely.

County Line Road was closed off to traffic between Henry Avenue and Meetinghouse Road as a result.

Crews were also working to restore power to nearly two dozen customers in the area who were affected by the downed wires.

The National Weather Service had issued a wind advisory until 5 a.m. Wednesday.

The overnight snowfall was also having an impact on the morning commute. Icy roadways were to blame for several accidents throughout the region, including an overturned trash truck on Route 202 in Warrington, Bucks County. The crash shut down the roadway between Bristol Road and Limekiln Pike.
