PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — The Kimmel Center presents “Jerry Blavat:  Salute to Street Corner Harmony” at Verizon Hall on January 23.

Blavat explains what you can expect from the show.

“The groups that they loved when they were first growing up as teenagers and the music that they will hear and the groups that they will see represents a time in America when teenagers didn’t know how sometimes to express themselves but through the music they were able to express what they felt.”

The Geator discusses why he put the show together.

“Philadelphia is a very special city. It’s a city of neighborhoods and this music was our music. Talk about the skyliners, the chantels,
the dimensions. We can’t live in the past, but it’s so great to visit when you hang out with The Geator at the Kimmel Center and these wonderful artists.”
