Many Festivities Planned For New Year's Eve In Philadelphia

By Hadas Kuznits

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Do you have plans for New Year's Eve yet?

Meryl Levitz, President and CEO of Visit Philly says many festivities are centered around the 6:00 and the midnight fireworks over the Delaware River, and there are a lot of parties with a perfect view of the big show.

"Such as the one on the Battleship New Jersey or the Independence Seaport Museum or at SugarHouse Casino or at the Blue Cross RiverRink, especially if you like to skate!"

One of the newcomers to the New Year's Eve party scene is located where Race Street meets Columbus Boulevard

"There is kind of a funky party given by Le Peg and the Fringe Arts Festival."

And Philadelphia DJ Lee Jones says while many people will surely be bar hopping in Old City, some will gravitate to one of the few rooftop bars in the neighborhood.

"Stratus Lounge on top of the Hotel Monaco at 433 Chestnut Street and they have DJ Royale spinning. I'm not sure if they can see the full things, but you can definitely see most of the higher hitting fireworks."
