Non-Christians Celebrate At The National Museum Of American Jewish History
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The folks at the National Museum of American Jewish History have an alternate way to celebrate Christmas.
Emily August, director of public programs here at the National Museum of American Jewish History says Christmas is their most attended day of the year.
"This event used to be called 'Being Jewish at Christmas' and a few years ago we made the decision to replace the 'Jewish' with a 'blank' so that regardless of what people observe, they can come here and have just a warm and welcoming fun family space on Christmas day," she said.
August says while the majority of their attendees are Jewish, some are not.
"We definitely have talked to people who will open Christmas presents in the morning and come here in the afternoon so we get people of blended traditions," August said.
This little girl describes what it's like to celebrate here.
"It seems like a big party like a big wedding all mixed together," the little girl told KYW Newsradio.
