Man Arrested Twice In Three Hours For Vehicle Break-Ins At Delaware Hospital, Police Station

DOVER, Del. (CBS) -- Police in Delaware arrested the same man twice in a matter of a few hours for breaking into vehicles at a hospital and the parking lot of a police station.

Authorities say officers responded to a reports of someone breaking into vehicles at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital around 7 a.m. Friday. After fleeing security, police say 28-year-old Joseph Graden was found hiding in some bushes on the hospital's property. Police say Graden broke into a Ford Escape in the hospital's parking lot and left his backpack inside the SUV containing his driver's license and wallet.

He was arrested and arraigned on charges of Criminal Mischief and Criminal Trespass, and then released.

Approximately 3½ hours later, police say an employee of the Dover Police Department was leaving the building when he found Graden rummaging through his vehicle, which was parked in front of the police station. Graden fled of foot but was taken into custody a short time later after a struggle with officers.

Police say Graden stole a bracelet from the car and caused damage to the inside of the vehicle.

Graden was arrested a second time and was charged with Theft, Resisting Arrest, Criminal Mischief, Disorderly Conduct and Criminal Trespass.

He was being held at the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $2,500 secured bond.
