HAVERFORD Twp., Pa. (CBS) – Authorities say a 40-year-old man was arrested in connection with an alleged sexual assault involving a five-year-old victim.

The Haverford Township Police Department Detective Division began a confidential investigation on December 9.

Authorities say the alleged assault happened at the victim’s home. The suspect was identified as the boyfriend of the victim’s mother and he was a part-time caretaker for the child, police say.

Detectives arrested Michael Goodwin and authorities say he is facing charges of aggravated indecent assault of a child, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years of age, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child and other related charges.

Police say Goodwin’s bail was set at $75,000 cash.

Authorities say he was unable to post bail and was transported to Delaware County prison.
