Two Local Women Will Enter Shark Tank

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The co-founders of a Philly based natural deodorant company will appear on ABC's "Shark Tank" tonight in hopes of getting a deal with the likes of Mark Cuban.

Jess Edelstien and Sarah Ribner will pitch their natural deodorant company to five industry titans in the hopes of getting one or more of the sharks to invest in their idea.

"When I decided I wanted to wear natural deodorant, I couldn't find one that lasted all day and didn't irritated my sensitive skin. Everything I tried either wasn't effective enough or caused itchy red rashes."

Edelstien thought she could do better so she did some research on body odor and created one in her kitchen.

"It has activated charcoal, which means it's a gray cream but it actually rubs in clear. Activated charcoal can absorb 1,000 times its weight in moisture making it the perfect ingredient for a natural deodorant. It's packed with skin conditioning elements like vitamin E, shea butter, coco butter, coconut oil, dietary magnesium which is a vital element your body needs when you sweat and essential oils."

It's called PiperWai. It has a gender neutral scent so it can be used by both men and women.

If funded, they hope to expand to larger retailers.

"Shark Tank" airs Friday nights at 9 p.m. on ABC.

There's a watch party at the Bourse on 4th and Chestnut tonight at 8 p.m.
