Temple Outlasts Penn In Big 5 Showdown, 77-73

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Quenton DeCosey scored 22 points and grabbed six rebounds to help lead Temple to a 77-73 victory over cross-town rival Penn on Wednesday night.

Jaylen Bond finished with 12 points and a game-high 10 rebounds and Obi Enechionyia added 11 points for the Owls (4-4), who have won three their last four following a 1-3 start to the season.

Temple never trailed in the second half, building a lead as high as 12. Penn's Matt Howard made a layup to cut the Quakers deficit to 61-56 with 6:19 left. But the Owls responded, scoring nine of the game's next 12 points, highlighted by a DeCosey 3-pointer, to push the lead back to 11 (70-59).

Penn (4-5) fought back to 75-73 after an Antonio Woods layup with three seconds left, but two Josh Brown free throws iced it for Temple.

Woods led the Quakers with 22 points and seven assists.
