Eagles Injury Report: QB Sam Bradford Expected To Start Vs. Patriots, RB Mathews Out

By Kevin McGuire

Welcome back, Sam Bradford. After losing three straight games, the Philadelphia Eagles will start trying to get back some mojo by seeing quarterback Sam Bradford return to the starting lineup this weekend on the road against the New England Patriots. The offense will once again be without running back Ryan Mathews, who has officially been ruled out of action for this weekend's road game.

Mathews was held out of practice all week as he continues to recover from concussion symptoms. He has been out of action each of the past two weeks and was forced to leave a home game against the Miami Dolphins early with concussion symptoms back in mid-November. His absence means the Eagles running game will continue to try mixing in Kenjon Barner at times while DeMarco Murray carries the bulk of the running game. Darren Sproles will also be utilized at times, as he has been accustomed to doing in a complementary role.

The Eagles will once again have some question on the offensive line. Offensive tackle Jason Peters is listed as questionable for this weekend due to lingering back pain and an ankle injury. The ankle injury occurred on Thanksgiving against the Detroit Lions. Peters did participate in full practices all week, which would seem to be somewhat promising. Offensive tackle Lane Johnson is listed as probable after a full week of practice. Johnson is playing through a shoulder injury. Dennis Kelly is also listed as probable following a full week of practice with a mild ankle injury.

As if that were not enough on the offensive line, center Jason Kelce is listed as probable with a knee injury, although he was also available for a full week of practice.

Two players looking to play following concussion symptoms are tight end Zach Ertz and wide receiver Josh Huff. Both put in a full practice load this week and are listed as probable for this weekend's game. Rookie wide receiver Nelson Agholor (hip) is also listed as probable. After being limited in practice on Wednesday, Agholor has been available for full practices the rest of rest of the week.

Probable:
WR Nelson Agholor (hip)
WR Seyi Ajirotutu (calf)
QB Sam Bradford (left shoulder)
TE Zach Ertz (concussion)
WR Josh Huff (concussion)
OT Lane Johnson (shoulder)
C Jason Kelce (knee)
OT Dennis Kelly (ankle)
DB Walter Thurmond (DB)

Questionable:
OT Jason Peters (back, ankle)
DE Cedric Thornton (ankle)

Out:
RB Ryan Mathews (concussion, groin)
