Media Members Tour Venue To Plan Coverage Of Democratic National Convention

By Mike DeNardo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Media members have had their first chance to scope-out the Wells Fargo Center, to plan coverage of next summer's Democratic National Convention.

Five hundred members of the media toured the Wells Fargo Center, and they had questions.

Where are the TV standup locations?  How reliable is the wifi?  DNC CEO Leah Daughtry says it's the beginning of the process to accommodate 15,000 to 20,000 journalists covering the actions of 6,100 delegates next July.

"Things like -- that are always of concern  -- are the workspace, where will they be working?  Is there enough fiber?  How will they connect to get their stories out?  How much will it cost?  And where exactly is their workspace in the arena going to be?"

For many, it will be in a temporary structure to be built in the parking lot.
