Brett Brown's Greatest Challenge? 'Keeping Locker Room Together'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia 76ers are the youngest team in the NBA with an average age of just 24.4 years old. At 1-19, they're also the worst team in the NBA.

Third year head coach Brett Brown admitted his toughest task is keeping his unit together.

"Amazingly to me, I think maybe my greatest challenge is keeping a locker room together when you do lose at the rate that we have lost," Brown told The Dan Patrick Show on Wednesday. "And the young guys are great, they do knock out good days. They have stayed together. To me, that's my best way to keep moving the program forward and to hold the locker room together, making them better."

The Sixers' youngest player is Jahlil Okafor, who turns 20 on December 15th. Okafor, also the team's best player through 20 games, was suspended for two games due to his recent off-the-court behavior.

Brown says losing certainly takes a mental toll on the 19-year-old rookie center.

"I think we would all be naive to think that it [the losing] doesn't have some level of affect [on Okafor]," Brown said. "He has been used to winning. He is one of the major faces of the program. He is a prideful young man. And so, you add it all up---not to make excuses---but I think out of just fairness and reality, I believe a portion of it has impacted that mindset."
