Philly Mural Of Pope Francis Seeks To Break World Record

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A commemorative mural honoring Pope Francis and his visit to Philadelphia was dedicated on Monday.

The mural spans three sections of the new Saint Malachy School at 11th and Thompson Streets.

"Pope Francis' message of peace and love and family and community. They're themes captured beautifully in this mural."

Featuring the Pope with his arm around a child, surrounded by diverse families along with flowers and vines. In one blue flower is Pope Francis' signature.

Jane Golden with the Mural Arts Program says more than 2,700 people helped with creating the mural.

"I love the fact that thousands of people, literally thousands of people, will be able to visit this wall and look up and say, I did that."

The piece is on track to be recognized by Guinness as setting the world record for "Most Contributions to a Painting-by-Numbers."
