Positively Philadelphia: Open Auditions For Wilma Theater Choir

By Lauren Lipton

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- If you like to sing, this story should be music to your ears.

"We're doing a production called 'The Christians' by Lucas Hnath, and we're looking to find a community choir that's made up of many different citizens from Philadelphia. We're looking for people of all different ethnicities, all different faiths to come together and be part of this production."

Nell Bang-Jensen is the artistic assistant and casting director at the Wilma Theater.

"They can choose any stanza they want. They can sing it in any style they want. We just want it to be a cappella."

Auditions will be held December 5 and 6 beginning at 2 p.m. each day at the Wilma Theater.

"We're really excited about this as an opportunity to bring more people in and hear more diverse voices than we usually do."

Community choir candidates should prepare one stanza of "Amazing Grace" to perform a cappella. If chosen to perform, all choir members must be available for four rehearsals in late April, and for performances that will run May 4 through May 29, 2016.

To sign up to audition, please contact Nell Bang-Jensen at 215-893-9456 x111, or email her at casting@wilmatheater.org.
