PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) — A 17-year-old has been charged in connection with a chaotic Philadelphia traffic stop that ended with a state trooper shot and a school bus engulfed in flames.
Giovanni Cotto is charged as an adult with attempted murder, risking a catastrophe and other felonies Police say Cotto was in a car stopped for an expired registration Tuesday morning and traded gunfire with police during a chase that ended when his car hit a bus and both burst into flames.READ MORE: 30 Years Later, Search For Joy Hibbs' Killer Continues With New Reward Posted For Information
Trooper Patrick Casey, 31, was shot in the shoulder. He was released from Hahnemann Hospital late Wednesday morning,
The teen’s father, Hector Cotto, says his son is “a good kid” who “made a wrong decision.”

Authorities say Cotto is being held on $3 million bail.
Police say they continue to search for Kaymer Lewis, who was a passenger in the vehicle stopped by troopers prior to the shooting on I-676.
