92-Year-Old Philadelphia Financial Guru Is Retiring

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) --  Long-time financial guru Harry S. Gross, who earned the respect and trust of millions of Philadelphia area listeners and readers over a career that spanned more than 35 years, has decided to retire.

At 92, Harry Gross says he just didn't have what he called "the fire" to continue writing his regular column in the Daily News.

His question and answer columns on personal money matters will be done at the end of the month.

Gross found his way into the hearts of Philadelphians in 1978 when he was invited by then WCAU-AM to do a radio program called "Speaking of Your Money."

Gross says the most common question he'd hear on radio or see in his mail bag for the column was where people should put their money...

"There are any number of investment surveys, studies whatever you may call them which indicate that the stock market does better than anything else with the possible exception of real estate."

Gross says his focus is on the love of his life- his wife, Helen and their two children and grandchildren.
