Authorities Investigating Officer Involved Shooting In Kensington

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – A Philadelphia Police officer was involved in a shooting overnight in Kensington.

It happened around 2:45 a.m. Monday morning at the 600 block of East Westmoreland Street.

Authorities say an officer fired his gun twice and shot a man at the intersection of F Street and East Westmoreland. A dispute erupted between the man and the officer. The man may have been armed with a knife.

Police took the man to Temple University Hospital. The wound does not appear to be life threatening.

No other officers were injured during the dispute.

Authorities are reviewing surveillance cameras in the area.
