Security Increased At Linc In Wake Of Paris Terror Attacks
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Eagles fans can expect tighter security at Lincoln Financial Field for today's game against the Miami Dolphins. It's all a part of the NFL's response to the terrorist attacks in Paris, France.
More police and security will be visible both inside and outside of the stadium. The NFL issued a statement Saturday saying although there is no known threat against NFL stadiums, they are reinforcing security practices.
One of the targets of Friday's terror attacks in Paris was a soccer stadium. Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey said in light of that, the city won't be taking any chances.
"I think it's understandable considering the circumstances," said longtime fan Anthony Berard. "I'd rather be safe and take a few more minutes in line than have something catastrophic happen."
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has asked for a moment of silence before all games Sunday. Also, players are expected to show solidarity with Paris with face paint, socks and gloves. Fans may also show their support with French flags in the stands.
Eagles fan Mattt Wiedenhaefer said he's feels for those lost in France.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with them," he said. "It's awful. The U.S. has to put its force behind them. It's awful."
The Eagles take on the Dolphins at 1 p.m.
