PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Drexel University has announced they are revoking an honorary degree given to Bill Cosby.

A letter to the Drexel University community reads: ‘The misconduct by Bill Cosby that came to light through his sworn deposition testimony stands in clear opposition to Drexel’s values. As a result, the University has revoked the honorary Drexel degree bestowed upon Mr. Cosby in 1992. I have made this decision in consultation with the Executive Committee of Drexel’s Board of Trustees.

Universities are critical arenas in the movement to recognize and address sexual violence and misconduct as a societal problem. Drexel takes that responsibility very seriously, and the decision to revoke Mr. Cosby’s honorary degree flows from that responsibility.’

The letter was written by Drexel University President John A. Fry.

Several other universities have revoked their honorary degrees to Cosby as well.
