Montgomery County Man Wins World Series Of Poker, Millions

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Montgomery County man has hit it big in Las Vegas, taking home the top prize at the World Series of Poker.

Joe McKeehen cashed out with $7.7 million. The 24-year-old North Wales native took home the top prize at the tournament finale in Las Vegas Tuesday night. McKeehen, sporting a black Allen Iverson Sixers jersey, raised his arms after the final hand, hugged his loved ones and held up the championship belt designed bracelet.

Series spokesman Seth Palanski said McKeehen had the chip lead from beginning to end and it wasn't all luck.

"He studied mathematics in college," Palanski said, "and he put that to great work figuring the math and the odds in poker, and really put on a dominating performance."

McKeehen, a graduate of Arcardia University, topped the runner-up, another Philadelphia-area native, Joshua Becklely of Marlton, New Jersey. His previous career high performance was $800,000 last year. For his career, McKeehen has netted over $11 million.
