Police: 6-Year-Old Sexually Assaulted In Hatfield Home Invasion

HATFIELD TOWNSHIP, Pa. (CBS) --  Police in Hatfield Township say a man broke into an apartment and sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl.

They say it the victim's 11-year-old brother called 9-1-1 just after 4 a.m. Monday and told dispatchers a man broke into his family's apartment and may have done "something" to his sister.  Police say they found the suspect, identified as Oscar Rivera Herrera, lying on the floor in one of the bedrooms. The children's stepfather held Herrera on the ground until authorities arrived.

Investigators say Herrera confessed to entering the apartment through a bedroom window and getting into bed with the 6-year-old victim.  He also told police he broke into the same apartment about 2-3 months ago, but no one was home.

Herrera was arraigned Monday night and charged with Rape and a handful of other offenses.  Bail was set at $1 million.  A preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 19.

Police are asking anyone with information about Herrera to contact them at (215) 855-0900 or call the Montgomery County Detective Bureau at 610-278-3368.
